What is the Final Goal of the Web Site: When designing your site be user-centric. Keep in mind the goals of the visitor. Many web sites over look this simple aspect of design. Try not to become big headed when it comes to your ego. I have seen web sites where there are pictures of the owner and staff smack in the middle of the web sites home page. These pictures were over 31000 bytes each (that's over 10 seconds on a 28.8k modem). Any visitor, nor I, need not to wait for these pictures to download on the home page. If you feel the need to add pictures of yourself or your employees add it to another page. I'm not against putting pictures of your company or employees on your web site. It does add the human touch. Just keep it in the right area. Always keep the user in mind. In order to achieve your goals you need to reach the goals of the user. You are not designing a web site for yourself. You are creating a web page in order for the user to accomplish their goals. Put yourself in the shoes of the user. What would they do? How will they buy or find out information on one of your products. Your web site should focus on what the user wants and needs. Your goal should be to make the users achieve their goal.
