I got hit twenty times yesterday by this annoying worm. Fortunately, my anti-virus powered by Symantec and Norton anti-virus disabled every threat. If you don't have Norton or McAfee anti-virus, you should. They also update your virus definitions automatically. Twice this week already, Symantec has updated my virus definitions so you know something is going on that you should be aware of.

W32.Sobig.F@mm is a mass-mailing, network-aware worm that uses its own SMTP engine to propagate and attempts to create a copy of itself on accessible network shares.

Symantec Security Response has upgraded this threat to a Category 4 from a Category 3 threat.

Here are a few things you should know about this worm virus:

These above Windows' users should download Microsoft's patch IMMEDIATELY before their computer gets infected. This worm virus also attempts to prevent downloads of the MS patch once it infects a computer.

I've used Norton AntiVirus for over five years now. McAfee makes a good antivirus program as well. I even get worm viruses from e-mail now, and Norton AntiVirus stops the viruses before they can do any damage to my computer. These days you've got to have anti-virus protection. Since the Internet has become so popular in the last few years, it has become a lot of fun to surf the World Wide Web and check out all the sites. Unfortunately, though, computers are prone to attacks from hackers and crackers. Even some web sites even have viruses although I think most of these sites have been already been attacked and infected by a hacker. Hackers make programs designed to "play games" with your computer, email, and Instant Messaging with viruses, worm viruses, and Trojan Horse viruses.
